Thea Miller’s iconic designs in DRU Jewelry was born out of the desire to create meaning and make sense of life’s complexities. From icons and images that symbolize strength and have provided hope and solace, DRU Jewelry has evolved into a symbolic armor that empowers and encourages its wearer.
Aa a down-to-earth artist who forges award winning designer jewelry, Thea Miller shares some of her life’s facets with us.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first REAL job was retail. I believe it was at a store in the mall called Contempo Casuals.
Q: How did you get started designing jewelry?
A: About 20 years ago, I saw a cross necklace in a GUESS ad. It didn’t exist to buy, so I made my own.
Q: Tell us about the single piece of jewelry you’re most proud of
A: I love my Doublet ring.
Q: If you weren’t designing jewelry, what would you be doing?
A: Teaching
Q: What jewelry are you wearing right now?
A: A long gold chain w/ the Pavé Point Pendant and a very small rose gold St. Benedict Medallion.
Q: What’s your exercise regimen?
A: Yoga and trail running
Q: What did you have for breakfast?
A: Oatmeal
Q: Anything to drink? (daytime/evening)
A: A cappuccino in the morning. Besides that, I rarely get thirsty. But I will have a margarita or a glass of wine when I’m out with friends.
Q: Shhh.. Tell us your guilty pleasures
A: I wasn’t raised with religion, so I don’t feel much guilt, especially about anything pleasurable.
Q: What book are you currently reading?
A: The Sympathizer.
Q: And a book you’ve been meaning to get to?
A: The Sympathizer.
Q: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
A: Sorry, but that’s just too difficult to narrow down.
Q: Who would play you in your life story?
A: Someone who can play many moods.
